Aircraft Rivnuts - NAS1329 & NAS1330 Series

Cadmium Plated Blind Threaded Inserts | EU Stock

Your European Source for Aviation Rivnuts

Airpart Supply stocks a comprehensive range of NAS specification rivnuts in our Dublin warehouse, providing fast delivery across the European Union for maintenance organisations and aircraft operators requiring permanent threaded anchor points.

Rivnuts, also known as blind rivet nuts or threaded inserts, are essential aircraft hardware components that provide permanent threaded anchor points in sheet metal where back-side access is not possible. These blind fasteners are installed from one side of the material and create a strong, reliable thread for machine screws, making them ideal for airframe repairs and modifications.

Our range includes NAS1329 (low-profile head) and NAS1330 (standard head) series rivnuts in cadmium plated finish for corrosion protection. These are used extensively throughout general aviation aircraft including Cessna, Piper, and Beechcraft aircraft for permanent fastening applications.

Available in thread sizes 6-32, 8-32, and 10-32 with various grip ranges to suit different material thicknesses. All parts meet NAS specifications and ship from our EU warehouse with full traceability documentation.

Understanding Rivnut Specifications

Selecting the correct rivnut requires understanding these key dimensions:

Thread Size

Internal thread that accepts the mating screw (6-32, 8-32, or 10-32).

Grip Range

Material thickness the rivnut can accommodate. Critical for proper installation.

Hole Size

Required hole diameter for installation. Must be accurately drilled.

Body Diameter

Outer diameter of the rivnut body that sits in the drilled hole.

Head Height

Height of flange above panel surface. NAS1329 has lower profile than NAS1330.

Head Diameter

Flange diameter that bears against the panel surface when installed.

Length

Overall length of the rivnut before installation.

Installed Length

Length after installation when body has been collapsed to form blind head.

NAS1329 vs NAS1330 - Choosing the Right Series

NAS1329 - Low Profile Head

Head Height: .032" (6-32, 8-32) / .038" (10-32)

Best for: Applications where minimum protrusion above the surface is required

Advantages: Lower profile, better for tight clearance areas, smoother external surface

Applications: Exterior skin panels, areas requiring flush appearance, limited clearance zones

NAS1330 - Standard Profile Head

Head Height: .063"

Best for: Applications where higher head strength and bearing area are needed

Advantages: Larger flange for better load distribution, increased pull-through resistance

Applications: Interior panels, structural attachments, high-load applications

Understanding Key-Locked (K Suffix) Rivnuts

Standard Rivnuts

Standard rivnuts (without K suffix) rely on friction between the collapsed body and the hole wall to resist rotation. Suitable for most applications where moderate torque is applied during screw installation.

Key-Locked Rivnuts (K Suffix)

Key-locked rivnuts feature a keyed body that requires a corresponding keyed hole. This provides positive anti-rotation that prevents the rivnut from spinning during screw installation, even under high torque. Required for applications with repeated screw removal/installation cycles.

Rivnut Applications in Aviation

Rivnuts provide permanent threaded anchor points where back-side access is not possible. Common aviation applications include:

Airframe Applications

  • Access panel attachment points
  • Inspection cover fastening
  • Fairings and cowling attachment
  • Wing root and fuselage skin repairs
  • Antenna and equipment mounting

Interior Applications

  • Cabin interior panel mounting
  • Instrument panel attachment
  • Avionics equipment mounting
  • Seat track installations
  • Cargo compartment fittings

Rivnuts vs Tinnerman Nuts - When to Use Each

Use Rivnuts When:

  • Permanent installation is required
  • Higher load capacity is needed
  • Multiple screw removal/installation cycles expected
  • No back-side access is available
  • Structural or semi-structural applications

Use Tinnerman Nuts When:

  • Quick, removable installation is preferred
  • Lower cost per fastening point is needed
  • Light-duty interior panel applications
  • Panel edge mounting is possible
  • Non-structural applications only
