Premium Engine Mounts for Vulcanair Aircraft

Barry Engine Mounts for Vulcanair Aircraft

Airpart Supply Europe is an authorised factory distributor for Hutchinson Aerospace Barry Engine Mounts, providing FAA/PMA approved engine isolators for the complete Vulcanair aircraft family.

Vulcanair aircraft, manufactured in Italy, represent a versatile family of twin-engine aircraft originally designed by Partenavia. The Vulcanair P68 series includes multiple variants powered by Lycoming piston engines and Allison turboprop powerplants, all requiring precision-engineered vibration isolation systems.

Barry engine mounts provide superior vibration isolation for these aircraft, protecting critical airframe structures and avionics while ensuring passenger comfort. Each mount is designed with proprietary elastomeric compounds developed specifically for aviation applications, meeting stringent FAA and EASA certification standards.

From our Dublin warehouse, we serve European operators of Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, and Vulcanair aircraft with fast delivery times and simplified VAT handling for EU customers.

About Vulcanair Aircraft

Vulcanair acquired the type certificate for the Partenavia P.68 series in 1998, continuing production of this versatile twin-engine aircraft family. The P.68 received Italian Civil Aviation Authority certification in 1971, with FAA approval following in December 1971. These high-wing monoplanes are constructed with aluminium alloy structure, featuring fixed or retractable landing gear depending on the variant.

The current Vulcanair lineup includes the P.68C with weather radar nose, P.68C-TC with turbocharged engines, P.68TC Observer and P.68 Observer 2 with transparent observation nose sections for law enforcement and patrol missions, P.68R (VR) with retractable landing gear, and the turboprop-powered AP68TP-600 Viator and AP68TP-300 Spartacus.

These aircraft are powered by 200-horsepower Lycoming IO-360 engines in piston variants, or 328-horsepower Allison 250-B17C turboprops in the TP-600 Viator. All engine installations require properly specified engine mounts to ensure safe operation and optimal vibration isolation.

Vulcanair Aircraft Models Using Barry Mounts

Vulcanair P.68 & P.68C

Twin Piston General Aviation Aircraft

The standard P.68 and P.68C variants are powered by two 200-horsepower Lycoming IO-360 engines. The P.68C features an extended nose for weather radar installation, increased fuel capacity, and upturned wingtips. Each engine requires four Barry mount part number 94011-20 for proper vibration isolation.

AP68TP-600 Viator

Turboprop High Performance Platform

The flagship turboprop variant certified in 1986 features 328-horsepower Allison 250-B17C engines with maximum gross weight up to 3,000kg. This advanced model requires three specialized 93110-01 Barry mounts per engine, specifically engineered for turboprop vibration characteristics.

Why Choose Barry Engine Mounts for Your Vulcanair Aircraft?

Proven Aviation Heritage

Hutchinson's parent company was founded in 1853, with aviation involvement dating to 1910 when they produced coated fabrics for aircraft crossing the English Channel. Their sister company Paulstra developed the first aircraft piston engine isolation system in 1934. This extensive heritage ensures Barry mounts incorporate decades of vibration isolation expertise.

Superior Engineering Design

Barry mounts utilize proprietary elastomeric compounds developed by Hutchinson's chemists specifically for aviation applications. Unlike competitor products, Barry piston isolators are designed without silicone-filled "jelly bags" that can leak and cause premature failure. The molded rubber bonded to center spacers provides torsional stiffness while delivering a "soft snub" response instead of harsh metal-to-metal contact.

FAA/PMA Certification & Interchangeability

All Barry mount part numbers carry full FAA/PMA approval, meeting or exceeding original equipment specifications. Hutchinson often receives approval via testing and computation rather than identicality, allowing them to improve designs. Several Barry part numbers replace multiple competitor part numbers, reducing inventory requirements while maintaining complete aircraft coverage for Cessna, Piper, Vulcanair, and other manufacturers.

Installation & Maintenance Guidelines

Critical Installation Requirements: Barry engine mounts must be installed according to the aircraft manufacturer's maintenance manual and Hutchinson's installation instructions. Proper torque specifications are essential to preload the elastomer correctly and achieve optimal vibration isolation characteristics.

Inspection Intervals: Visual inspection of engine mounts should be conducted at each annual inspection or 100-hour inspection, whichever occurs first. Look for signs of elastomer deterioration including cracking, oil contamination, permanent deformation, or separation of bonded surfaces. Replace mounts showing any of these conditions immediately.

Service Life Considerations: The shelf life of Hutchinson elastomeric components depends on storage conditions and compound type. Properly stored mounts maintain their properties for extended periods, but always check date codes upon receipt. Installation of mounts beyond their shelf life may be permissible with proper inspection and approval.

European Compliance: All Barry mounts supplied through Airpart Supply Europe include documentation supporting EASA Part 21 requirements. For operators under national civil aviation authorities, we provide additional documentation as required for continued airworthiness.
